28.Jun.2010 Call to Action: Let Your Voice Be Heard on the Responsible Fatherhood Programs
These are YOUR tax dollars. I would have no beef if they helped all noncustodial parents, but the groups that get these funds only help fathers. I KNOW, I’VE TRIED. The House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing recently, loaded with the father’s rights guys. We need to get our voice heard too. The committee I was told will take comments until JULY 1, 2010. Please let your voice be heard on this. Questions that would be good to ask are:
1. Why do you only help fathers and not mothers, isn’t that discrimination?
2. Isn’t it against the law to discriminate against one gender and help the other when the same conditions exist for both?
3. What makes fathers more important than mothers? (Why should either be more important (sans abuse)?)
